Trail Cam ??
« on: June 20, 2024, 02:49:31 PM »
Ok trail cam experts I have a question on a subject that I haven’t heard about. Are there any trail cams that have an audio trigger to start recording instead of using a motion detector. Possible uses, to detect gun shots in the area you are setup, to hear an elk bugle that doesn’t walk in front of the camera, to hear someone talking who saw your camera and decided not to walk in front of it. If there is such a device would it have an adjustable db value that can be set for the trigger so there isn’t a bunch of false triggers.

Why. Are you that paranoid. Unless you are setting up on some private ground other people should have the same rights as you.

Not paranoid, just trying to think out of the box. I still remember trying to figure out a bow sight for my recurve bow that I was shooting cedar arrows with 50 years ago. Look how far archery has come since the hey days of the Fred Bear era. Just wondering if trail cam technology has taken another step in evolution.

They do make these devices but they’re not in the hunting field. Biologists use them to do acoustic detection for bats and birds.

I know one bio that placed a bunch of sound records in the Olympics. They told me they picked up all types of noise, some from miles away. They were try to determine how human noise was impacting wildlife. It would not be hard to make such a thing, but I think it would pick up some much useless noise that you would never have to time to filter through it.
