Still waiting on surplus multi season tags
« on: August 13, 2024, 07:50:26 AM »
I've tried to not complain this year but, I'm getting pissed.  Almost 2 full weeks since the purchase by deadline and still no announcement on surplus tags.  Absolutely zero consideration for the sportsmen and their need for advanced notice.  Rant over.  LoL

I just don't understand why they would sit on these for so long after the purchase deadline.

whats even more ridiculous is how long you have to purchase them. We are now 17 days away from archery season and the whole point of these permits is to use multiple weapons. Deadline to buy these should be the deadline of the application for permits in May. Put these on sale come june and results are released.

They could do better with this. The purchase deadline should be before the special hunts deadline. The fact that we have to wait so long to buy a leftover tag is crazy, I’d really like to know if I will be able to hunt in September.

The only way to explain this level of incompetence is that it's intentional.

Exactly, people can’t be that incompetent and keep their jobs unless like you said it is on purpose

A friend called yesterday and was told by whoever was answering phones that they were not going to be selling leftovers this year.  Take it for what its worth, but I wouldn't put it past WDFW to punt and avoid the perceived hassle.

It would really surprise me if they left all that money on the table. Hopefully that’s fake news you heard

I looked back through WDFW emails of years past to reference their announcement and release dates. There has been a consistent ~August 18th release date in the past, with the announcement email being sent a day or two prior. However, this year the 18th is on a Sunday. So I suspect announcement emails to be sent to us next week.

I called them yesterday to see if they had and idea when. The gal said they are shooting for next week some time but had no specific day yet.
