Wife's Teanaway Fall permit tag

Always have fun with this tag. Wife @Michelle was lucky enough to draw it for the first time. In the blind before 6 listening to birds every where. We are setup within 40 yards of birds in a roost. We had more then 100 birds all around us. Fly down started at 0645 till 0700. 0730 a group of hens come in with a couple jakes. A bearded hen was out 20 foot in front of the blind eye balling us but they kept feeding in front of us. Wife is being calm and was looking for her very first tom. Didn't take long and she dropped the hammer on a nice tom at less the 20 yards. Cold morning was 25 when we got in the blind. Yes I do call in the fall. Light tree calls just to let them know there might be a bird around. When they hit the ground we might crank up the lead hen if needed. Let them be when they are insight like the spring. They are just as vocal in the fall on the roost except less gobbling by the Tom's. They actually do yelp it is very deep and slow almost like a dog barking.

How do you measure trying, you do, or you don’t.

Nicely done.
So why is it a draw tag, and not an OTC tag?

There used to be 3 areas alo g the eastern cascade that were draws. Klickitat, Teanaway and the Okanogon. They were fall draws because of the lower population of birds. The increase in population changed Klicatat and the Okanogon to a fall OTC but only 2 fall birds in the Klick now and I don't now if the have changed the Okanogon to 2. I k ow it is 1 for sure. Therehasbeen talk of opening Teanaway to OTC a couple of rule and season setting cycles in WDFW.
