Winthrop/twisp mounted bucks
« on: December 30, 2024, 03:07:55 PM »
I’ve heard there is a store or two with big mounted methow valley bucks on the walls. I’m visiting for a few days and would love to see them. Seems like a hardware store maybe had a bunch but can’t remember.

Three Fingered Jacks has some nice bucks on their walls, don’t know if they’re local bucks or not. Same with 6 Point saloon in Twisp.
Yeah the hardware store has some nice stuff, just don’t know where they came from.

Just read 6 Point saloon is permanently closed

Yep, lots of trophy stuff from Canada, and around the world. Definitely a must see.👍

There are two monsters up at Sun Mountain Lodge in the hallway that I think were taken by Victor Moss back in the day.

Correct. Most of the mounts including the mule deer were harvested by Vic. He was a great guy👍

Dewey, what store did he have up in Winthrop? I used to sit there and listen to stories while Dad delivered fuel or something.  He didn’t care that I was just a little kid.  He had a non typical that hung above his door that just captivated me.

Yes three fingered Jacks are local bucks.  Pretty much killed by one cowboy.

Vic was sort of a child hood hero of mine. I met him on my birthday when I was maybe 10 and we happened to have the same birth date. I was there to by BBs for my BB gun. I told him I wanted to be a big game hunter some day and that peaked his interest real quick. I went in to that store a few times per year up until he died mostly just to shoot the stuff. It's too bad because around the time he died is when he started telling me to come with him on a hunt. I would have loved that. I took some family up to Sun Mountain several days ago to have a drink in the bar and I had to stop and marvel at those two bucks. Both absolutely gigantic in my opinion. Based on the mounts, it looks like one was a rut buck and the other a general season based on the neck size.
