Idaho weight limit question
« on: November 04, 2025, 06:44:12 AM »
Does anyone here know if using a tripod for shooting off of makes it an attachment when it comes to the weight limit? I am planning on heading out thay way and reading up on the rules trying to make sure i understand everything.

When hunting with kids using a tripod has made it so much easier. However, I would need to change my scope out and a few other things if it counts towards the weight limit. We use a tripod for the spotting scope then might switch a rifle on it if the brush is too tall for a good rest or the terrain says so.

thanks

Talking like a PRS tripod that locks the gun to the tripod via picatinny or similar? I would think that'd be attached as opposed to trigger sticks or similar that is just.  :dunno:

Best to go to the source for your answer ultimately.

I would think the answer is NO..... but you should just call and ask Idaho to confirm.

:yeah: I'm gonna guess if you can pick your rifle up and it stays affixed then it is technically considered an attachment. They could probably cite you for it if they wanted to, doubt if they actually would unless you were walking around with it clamped to your rifle. Like others said, if you're worried about it ask IDFG

Thanks for the help. Yes, it does attach to the section of arca rail on the stock so I was unsure.
