Fishing near Olympia?
« on: July 27, 2009, 11:41:29 AM »
I have to be over there for two days for some training and I was wondering if there was any good fishing near there around August 12 and 13. Appreciate any info. Thanks.

try hoodsport fish hatchery, they'll be people but it aint bad if you go on a weekday. skokomish is open aswell and should be producing  some fish, the nisqually river is the closest and is open for salmon as well but usually not as good. 3 easy spots that should get you into some salmon :twocents:

What do you want to fish for and do you have a boat?

Are you going to be here on the weekend at all or just during the week?

Lake St Clair is a fun one to go to and soak a worm or cast for bass, need a boat though.  Good tasting trout, when they're pink, and decent perch, bluegills, and rockbass.  Worm and a bobber and you never know what you'll pull up.  Biggest trout was a 23 inch brute so red you would have thought it was a sockeye salmon filet.  Tossed a 13 inch bluegill back after some photos one spring.  I haven't worked the largemouth but have been told there are some decent ones there.

Black lake is also good but you need a boat.
