WDFW Still taking the crop from your Turkey
« on: April 16, 2010, 02:34:52 PM »
 :hello: Hey there....
Been awhile since I've been on, but wanted to give everyone a heads up. I was at the WDFW office in Spokane Valley this afternoon, when I was leaving I noticed 2 hunters entering, one holding a plastic bag. As I headed to my car, my mind was curious as to what it could have been, especially knowing it HAD TO DO WITH TURKEY then I remembered last year folks talking on here about the study of turkey crops & that the dept was asking hunters to submit the crop from their harvest. I turned & went back inside & spoke to the hunters as they waited their turn...they were not sure if the study was still ongoing but had received the email last year & were in the area & decided to stop by. When it came their turn, we all learned from the receptionist that yes, the study is still continuing. Information they are wanting with the submitted crop include your WILD ID number, location (GMU) & date.
I tried finding something on the WDFW website, but didnt have any luck at the moment. All I know is if I'm lucky enough to bag my first gobbler tomorrow ;) I'll be sharing the wealth come Monday by taking my crop into the office!  :chuckle:
Maybe someone else has some additional information?!?! :dunno:
