Minot Buck Down!
« on: October 27, 2010, 10:43:34 AM »
My brother put a blacktail down at last light yesterday and I was able to get in on the action and help him pack it out in the dark and monsoon rain last night  :chuckle: I got some work to do now but ill post the pics and more info later today. By the way it was chasing does and had one mounted up at one point before he shot him. Im no expert and could be completely wrong but it seemed kinda early to me  :dunno:

Here are a couple pics. It was getting late by the time I got up there and we were both soaked with a lot of work left when we took the pics so we didnt spend too much time with field pics. There was this buck and another 2pt buck taking turns on a doe and this guy was the one who presented a good shot so he was the one  :)  This is only my brothers second blacktail and best one so far so needless to say we were both pretty stoked. Also after looking it over pretty close i think that its a pretty old buck even though his headgear isnt really big. Im no age expert but he was really big bodied and after looking at it side by side with 3 other customers bucks that were bigger racked he had virtually no teeth compared to them. Can anyone on here tell just by looking at these pics?

That is a good sized body. It's not too early for rut. I've killed bucks on Halloween that were rutted. Usually the week of Halloween things pick up and of course there is always the few that start way early. Congrats to ur bro.
