American Lake - Pierce County

Anyone have experience with where to launch a boat American Lake? Any tips on fishing that lake this time of year? Any help appreatiated. Thanks

I believe there is a public launch on the southwest side........Sorry, I can't help with the fishing part.

There are some huge triploids in American Lake as well. There are two public ramps that I know of. One on the east side, primitive, no security, lots of vehicle broken into here. Last year there was a rash of Catalitic converters hack sawed off the trucks parked in this lot. The second is on the west side in the park is a new ramp, more secure then the other. I troll a double whammy replaced with red gamakatsu hooks with a nitecrawler teaser for the kokes. A Dick Nigh spoon or rooster tail for the rainbows. All the standard trout gear will do good here. Depending on traffic (gets pretty busy mid day on weekends) I usually circle between the resort and the island around the 20 - 30 ft depth range. The south end (not the little extension pond) can do well bait fishing.

The pay to launch park on the westside(?) is really nice and far more secure.  Fee is $10 and the machine takes cards as well.

Here's the WDFW site on the other side of the lake.  It's free with your vehicle pass hung on your rear view.

Yeah I saw your post and drove up there to get photos....LOL :chuckle:  Not really.  I had them on my computer.  Just changed the wrong photo on the WDFW site to the right one.  Glad that helps. :tup:

This is the one that may be free, but could cost you your catalitic converter, lol.

Pictures were taken mid-week, in the a.m.  Late afternoons and weekends when the weather is nice like that draws folks out.
