I tried switching to musket caps on my t/c hawkin, they for some reason would not fire and the first try? always on the second but never the first. any ideas? JB

Check for clearance between the hammer and the nipple when fired. There shouldn’t be any or very little. If there is you may need a longer nipple. I’ve also heard that some nipples work better if they are sharpened to a bit of an edge.

JDB, whos nipple are you using? When I changed mine over ,also a TC hawken, I was having the same problem. What I found was only the TC musket nipples would work, never had good luck with the no name stuff.
