Good variety this time
« on: June 24, 2012, 11:50:07 AM »
Well, maybe "good" isn't the correct word, but I did get deer, coyotes, and a bear. I think I'd rather see nothing but deer out there, but it does make for some interesting pictures. With all the predators hanging around I'm a little concerned about the fawns in the area. But, at least one of the last pictures was of a fawn, so there was still at least one alive at that time anyway. The bear tried to knock down, or pull down, my camera, which was obvious when I first got there this morning because the camera was crooked on the tree.

The camera apparently didn't smell or taste that good because I'm sure the bear could have got it down if it had really wanted to, with only two small bungee cords holding it to the tree. This was one of my Wildgame Innovations W6X cams, which I really like the small size and the decent quality pictures they take, but it sure would be nice if it had a multi shot "burst" option. It only takes one picture at a time, with a minimum 15 second delay, which is what I have it set to.

First, there were a couple of coyotes:

Then a deer got its picture taken 4 minutes later:

I need some opinions on this next sequence of three pictures. The first one is at 2:31 AM and it appears to be something that just laid down. I think it's a bit blurred from the movement. Apparently it laid there for 5 hours without moving enough to trigger the camera. The next picture is at 7:28 AM and it's still laying there. I can see the ears but still not sure what it is. The third picture at 7:30 is definitely a deer, that is standing up. So I'm thinking all three pictures are of the same deer. The other possibility is that the first two pictures are of a coyote, which is what I thought it was at first, until I saw the deer in the third picture.

A little later in the day, a coyote, in front of the camera long enough for 5 pictures, not sure what it is looking for on the ground, a video would have been nice.

Then three days later, a buck shows himself:

Two days later the bear wanders by, and you'll see from the third picture that the bear apparently fogged up the camera lens by breathing on it.

The coyote again, later that same day, camera now crooked:

And a deer:

This next sequence of six pictures I studied a lot. They're not good pictures, because they're all blurry from movement, but I think the first one is a deer, possibly a doe with a fawn behind her, then the next 5 are a coyote, which was possibly after the fawn. Kind of weird that it just seems to stop and hang out right there for a while. I'm wondering if the doe and fawn were close by and just out of the picture.

Last but not least, here is a fawn, still alive on June 22nd (look to the right of the stump)

Sweet pics Bobcat. The pics that you want opinions on of the critter sleeping looks to me like a yote but it's hard to tell.

Looks like that's the second fawn you've gotten this year, I haven't gotten one as of yet but I did see teeny tiny little tracks in the area last time I was in there so hopefully the next batch has a few on there.
