That depends on how you look at the saying :chuckle:

Thanks, I guess.  8)
Has to do with the fact I have been into photography for around 30 years and could never afford top of the line gear, now I can.
Never bought top DSLR because the couldn't compete with what I wanted for prints compared to film.
Then came the D3. I was just outside shooting in the twilight of 8:15 pm and was just as shocked as examples I was seeing online. 12,500 ISO is just crazy :yike: All i can say is OMG!
I will post some examples next week as were going camping 1st thing in the morning at warm beach.

Funny thing is, every time they pan the press pool, black to white is even.
At phelps swimming the other night I re-wound the DVR after the network panned the press box because of the amount of shooters there to see him tie the record and counted 72 camera's, 37 black, 35 white.  :chuckle:

Yeah, you pretty much can't go wrong with either one.  They are both incredible AND incredibly expensive.  :)   Looking forward to seeing your pics.

Looking foward to it!
But I have some reading to do, the book on the D3 is 472 pages, ALL english.
So far in an hr playing, I dig the Auto ISO and the Active-D lighting feature.

Ok, back to packing the trailer.  :(

I've been looking at the press in the Olympics as well and so far I'm finding about 2/3rd Canon.  There are a lot of Canon guys using black lenses either shorter telephoto or off brand.  It's good to see though that Nikon actually has a showing in the Olympics.  They have been absent for years and it's frustrating.  I use to be a Nikon shooter and have used both systems so I bear some allegiance to Canon but wouldn't have a problem switching.  I've been waiting for cameras like the D3 and D700 so that Canon will kick their ass in gear and make some better products.  There is a long way for us to go technology wise in dslr cameras and I can't wait to see what the new Canon 5D II will have to compete with the Nikon D700 and what the next 50D will have in it for a crop camera.  Then Nikon will come out with a D3x that has twice the pixel count of the D3 and on and on.  Prices of lenses have been rising and they should be getting cheaper for us consumers, in my opinion.  You are going to love that combination but keep your D200 around for wildlife...

 Congrats on a fine purchase! I wish I could afford that setup. I rented the 200-400 last week for a trip to SE Alaska and now I better start saving my pennies  :'( I can't imagine how nice it would be with a D3 (I was using a D200)... You will enjoy it! Make sure you're covered with insurance though!

Here's a couple Sitka Blacktails I captured with it:
