Saylean, BTKR, GET IN HERE!!!
« on: July 07, 2012, 12:35:27 PM »
Went to the dump today and decided to drive a few more miles to a spot I thought might hold bears.  I got there and found these:

Those look older but I don't know how to age these things.  This one looks more fresh:

How old are these?  There was an area about the size of an acre where there were dozens of peeled trees.  is this area worth setting up a stand on in a month?  I saw a few tracks in the dirt.  Not sure of age.  Couldn't find any scat though.  I think this is solid evidence that bears were in the area, just not sure how long ago.  Can you age these?

and what the hell is this?  It is a giant pile of balled up moss.  What did this and why?

The moss is probably bigfoot ;) based on the healing on those trees they look pretty old on a couple of them like a few years, that said what I do see is a fair bit of oregon grape and salal if I saw prints in the area I would start investigating for fresher sign.....

and those helpers are sure cute

There was a ton of salal there.  I figured the peels were old, just didn't know how old.  And this is about 15 miles from the dump

Damn.  I was hoping for newer.  It's still the best lead in Mason Co. I've come across.  Going to investigate more.

Those look like logging damage from the thin logging they did in there where equipement or logs slip along trees.

Looks like someone thatched the moss out of their lawn and dumped it there.

Could've been brush pickers harvesting moss and for whatever reason they left it there :dunno:
