Anyone hunt fox with success? I have never killed one and really want to try and call some in. I have called in coyote, bears, bobcats, and lots of deer but never a fox. Just want a new challenge. Just looking for a general area on the east side.

There are some in Mae Valley. Buddy just spotted one last month.

I think a guy on here named Maverick on HW shot some last year near Pasco, Burbank area. Wouldn't give any specifics.

I have seen a handful in the few years I've lived in Olympia. I've also seen one in Pullman, and there are a lot around Roseburg in Oregon.

maverick that is fricken sweet, i have hunted many years and have never seen a fox, maybe some day, my body moved to north dakota and said they are pretty thick there, i am hoping to go back there this winter and hopefully kill my first fox at the ripe ole age of 40....

They are just about everywhere in this state, just not in high numbers. I see quite a few out in the desert and around Ephrata/Coulee areas

There's not that many around so you get one. I average 2-3 a winter.

I had a pair of them in my Yard last year, NOT what someone with birds wants to see or hear by the way. (Yakima)

THeres a pretty good sized thread on here about them already with sightings and such.

I've seen several in Ellensburg before. Was shocked to say the least. I have never stumbled on to any where I could shoot them though.

Fox are not very numerous here in Eastern Washington, mainly because they compete for the same food as coyotes, and coyotes being bigger and more numerous, chase foxes off or kill them if they can catch them. In the nearly 40 years I've lived here in Wenatchee, I've seen only one fox, and that was up in the National Forest.

The previous state I was in had a similar problem with yotes killing and eating the foxes. As a result most of the foxes were pushed to live in the city and burbs.

My goal for the year is to kill a fox. From all the sightings in grant county sounds like they are right in my backyard and i'm just not seeing them.

sounds like a guy just needs to go hunt with maverick, he doesnt seem to have a problem getn them sneaky little bastages, and i beleive bone is right, wont be long until the woods are full of those killn machines

i have seen one in the town of waitsburg and my brother has shot 4 or 5 of them near asotin. he has seen more. I know there are a few living in Clarkston also.

Yeah I called it in for my buddy. Black with silver tipped hair and one back white foot lol. I dont have a pic on my phone or is post it. Only one ove seen around here but you can Google them. He shot his opening day of fox season so the hide wasn't worth tanning.. 22-250s aren't good for them either..... Fur buyer told me to use a .22, I use a 12 gauge.

I think there are more of the black ones near Rainier. Cascade fox.... I don't remember. Obviously you can't shoot them in the park, but they do breed and spread out. Their hides used to be PREMIER

I've killed 7 fox myself and have gotten my dad, bro, and buddy each one. September is easiest time to get one but the hides are real thin and look.like crap. I prefer to wait till November through January. I don't like to shoot fox that iant worth skinning out. With so few around it just seems like a waste..

gotta agree with ya there, i feel the same about bobcat, why killem if their hides aint worth a damn

i dont know where you live maverick but if your somewhere around graham we should hook up this winter, i know where are lots of bobcats, i am a novice varmit caller so you would probably want to do all the calln, i here cats come in real fast if they are in ear shot, the only cat i called in came in pretty quick but he came in from a direction i didnt expect and he spotted me

i always thought that until i bought a couple predator huntn movies, sometimes the cat would be right on top of them before they finished their first calling seqeunce, other times it would take up to 45 minutes, it sure is fun though and bobcats are just cool ass little critters, i use to get alot of them when i had hounds but i would never kill more than 2 a night, personal rule....if you ever want to go and your gonna be on the westside during the right time especially in january and febuary let me know, like i said i know some spots that have lots of cats, but i worth a damn at calln them in, i am thinkn about putn up the mouth calls and gettn a fox pro

I live in the north basin and we have a lot of cats. They come in faster than most people think. The hard part is spotting them. They will sit there and watch you call. Last year I called one in 2 weeks before season so i couldn't shoot it. It watched me for 15 minutes 40 yards away.

I just need one to put on the wall with the 2 fox. haha. I definetly trade a fox hunt for a bob cat hunt! The fox pros are really nice. If you do a lot of coyore hunting then they are definetly worth the money. Never had any luck with them for fox though. Mouth calls seem to work better.

hell lets set up a time this january, i got bobcats in my backyard, this tom that hangs out once in awhile i figure will go 40 plus pounds, if you aint comfortable staying at my house then we can set the wall tent up in the back i have a kick ass stove for it and power for a t.v and dvd player, if we hunted friday and saturday that would give you sunday to travel home but i am sure we could find you a bobcat in 2 days, you gotta do the calln though cause i have made alot of stands and have only called in one, i am probably doing somethn wrong, i dont move around except my eyes and i will useally sit in one spot for an hour or more, i have heard that if they dont come in to where you can see them in 45 minutes to an hour then relocate, who knows, i have hunted blacktail my whole life and i am thinkn these damn bobcats are just as sneaky....
