Bushnell Trophy Cam ??????
« on: July 20, 2012, 11:39:14 PM »
I have an 8 mp Bushnell Trophy Cam that i have used now for 2 years.  I am just now noticing that it does not like to take photo's at night.....it will and the night photo's it does take are awsome, but almost every night there will be a period of time from 4-9 hours that it will not take a single pick.  I have a moultrie on the same bait and have confirmed this.  At first I thought there were just no animals, but it seemed funny that it was every night.  The hours of night do not matter.  Sometimes it stops from 2100 till 0300 and then next night it will stop at 2300 to 0900.

Anyone else have this problem??  Is there a way to fix it?  I could turn the sensativity down, but do to the lowest level, but do not want pics of wind blown leaves.  Right now it is on nomal sensativity.

Thanks

Johnny

In "trail camera" years (like dog years, but much shorter) a  two year old camera is about 80.

I've not yet found any camera (including the very best, top of the line models) that consistently last much past two years.

I like the Bushnells as well or better than any other current models from other manufacturers. :twocents:

Bushnell's do have a 2 year warranty, while most other brands that I know of only have a 1 year warranty.

I too love my bushnell.  As a matter of fact it still takes amazing pictures and the battery life is amazing.  This year alone this camera has taken 10,000 pics and is still on the first set of batteries...and they show "full".  I am going to turn the sensativity down and se what happens.  The moultrie m80 that I have on the same set has taken 300 picks and batteries show 50%...very dissapointed....though the pics are really good.

I have noticed this on my 8mp too, haven't confirmed it with another camera, but would have tons of pictures all day then nothing at night for a couple days at a time, thought it was odd that the trails would go cold at night.  My 5mp has never had this problem.  Havent heard of any fix for this issue, let us know if you do.
If you dont do it this year, you'll be one year older when you do!

I have used practically all models of cameras. I would say the average life span for my cameras is 2-3 years. Occasionally I will have one go tits up the first season but usually it's the second or third that it starts jacking up. The oldest cams I have had make it 5 seasons. I have friends that have some going on 7-8....but that's a pretty rare exception.

Probably for the better...I'm not impressed with my bushnell night pictures. Especially in comparison to my moultries.

I got 5 season out of a Reconyx, and a Moultrie. But then I have had the same model Moultrie die in two seasons.

My Bushnell trophy cam is 2 years old and the LCD display quit working.  Its going away just like my Bushnell scopes did, and rangefinder.  I just haven't had very good luck with Bushnell products, so I won't buy any more.

2 year game cam life span is rediculous.  I accidently left my cuddeback open in wet conditions for 8 days....a little tinkering and its working again.  Its 4 years old.  My Bushnell hasn't even been dropped and it is now garbage.  My buddies trophy cam lasted less than 2 years also.  Too bad because I liked the pictures from my Bushnell better than the Cuddeback, but the cuddeback still works and theres a lot to be said for that.

My trophy cams have also only lasted two years...and i agree...two years is ridiculous... particularly for a 200 dollar camera..which is what I paid for mine back when I bought them.
