Camping behind gates
« on: July 21, 2012, 01:24:21 PM »
I am curious if it is legal to bring a small tent behind a locked weyco gate and stay over night. Just hunt all day, sleep wherever we stop and wake up the next morning and o from there. Is that against weyco rules? Im not talking about having a fire or anything. Just pitching a small tent down a spur road or something. Is this against their rules or no?  :dunno:

I think it is not.  Find state land and sleep on it.

I know I can camp on state land. Im just wondering about weyco land. I have a spot I would like to hunt but it is a long way in there and it would save me a lot of time if I rolled out a sleeping bag and slept there

they don't even like you camping at their gates.  you can park your truck and sleep in it, but don't pitch a tent and especially don't make a fire.  at least here in sw washington.  never have encountered weyco security, but have been told by the uncle of a friends, whos brother-in-law sister, told her dads cousins step-father.  anyway, read their land rules.  its the best way to know. :o

When access is allowed, it's  during daylight hours only. I have wanted to do the same thing but they don't allow it. You will have to find state or DNR land.

I've camped behind locked gates before just pitch a tent and don't make a fire. Pack out what you pack in and you'll be fine. What's the worst that's going to happen they'll tell you you can't camp there?

Thats what we used to do at Nemah. Had Game cop come into camp and had some of the wherhauser cops too. They never said to leave. Like he said just dont leave a bunch of crap laying around and camp in an out of the way place

Actually I know some guys that have been banned from any weyerhauser land for 5 years for not following there rules for the treefarm. If it is worth it to take a chance ....

Personally I would fine a chunk of state land , there is always some in and around weyerhauser. Have someone drop you off at the gate and pick you up later.. Im sure you would have cell service to call.

Camping is not allowed on Weyerhauser land at any time, no exceptions.

This is from the rules for the Pe Ell Tree Farm:

Quote

4. Camping is generally allowed during the fall hunting season after October 15th. Permits are available from local vendors.

So it depends on what area you're talking about. For the other areas I think that is correct. No camping allowed at all.
