lunch on the river..

was chicken sliders yesterday.  Yum!  By the way, I really enjoyed the new Rainshadow.

Ummm...no fish.  That's another story.  Took my Lab with and he decided right away that he'd rather go swimmin' and chase sticks than sit quietly and enjoy the day.  First cast of the morning and he bales out of the boat and into the upper Skykomish river.  Probably his last fishin' trip in the drift boat.  He was a handful to say the least..  Made fishing just a little difficult the whole day.

I recognize that stretch of river. It is up by C-Post.....there is a watering hole around a bend that I swear every blacktail in the area comes down to for a drink. See any deer while out throwing sticks? Nice looking dog by the way.

This is the Skykomish river.  I did notice lots of deer tracks on the bank in one spot where where we stopped to let the dog run a little..

He saw you fishing and he wanted to give it a shot. Next time just tie about 20 feet of fishing line to his tail with a lure at the end  I don't see anywhere in the regs that a dog has to have a fishing licsense

Just put a short leash on him and tie him off to the middle of the boat so he can't jump or move around much while your fishing, then let him off for some free time too.
 
Kind of like you'd tie off a dog in a truck bed, not enough leash to bail over the side or hang himself on.  I'd start off with a really short leash until he got the hang of it, he'll give you a pretty dejected look but ignore him. 
 
He'll quickly learn to be still when he needs to be still and when you pull to shore he'll enjoy the heck out of that - just like riding in a pickup

  ...but I like my idea better  But KFhunter is totally right about him being excited when you take a brake on shore. It is like a treat for being good.
