Raven Roost Peaches ridge
« on: July 30, 2012, 06:08:34 PM »
Hello- So I drew the Peaches ridge Modern rifle tag and I am looking for input on what to expect. all I hear about is Raven roost, I drove up there in June to check it out. Looks pretty thick and steep.  I was considering going in and spike camping for @4 days to get away from the crowds.  my questions are:1.  should I expect other hunters to do the same? 2.  Which direction should I go? towards crow lake?  3. I have a few motorcycles, is it Worth riding some of the trails to get back in? 4.  does the forest service close some of the roads and trails during hunting season? 5.  Lastly, how hard does this area get hunted during deer season?

thanks for your time..BK

Your going to have a lot of guests, no matter where you go up there.  If you have patience you will do fine

The Norse Peak wilderness boundary is just west of Raven Roost. Crow Lake is in the wilderness.  You'll need to go by foot or horse if you head that direction. Good luck with your plans and hunt.

do you think west or south west is a good direction to go? north looks like it has lots of roads and some clearcuts, will the deer hunters run the elk out of those areas?

Dropping down into the valley off Ravens Roost you will have other hunters, most on horses.  But you won't have ORV's and road hunters!!  Chinook Pass Outfitters will pack out your animal.  I believe the price depends on where you are and how far in.  Good Luck!

If I had that tag I would be contacting Norsepeak . I would go in deep away from the roads on horses.

I think he can arrange for a pack in and pack out.
