Lapush Tuna
« on: July 30, 2012, 09:37:06 PM »
Had great ocean conditions at Lapush this weekend so went out to look for tuna. Had a great trip and loaded the boat on Saturday with 28 tuna, a pretty good load for a 20 foot boat! Nice fish from 15-25 pounds. Found out how fun tuna fishing is and how messy it is too but well worth it. Been eating tuna on the grill every night since. nwhunter

I am very interested in your latest tuna adventure in LaPush, I fish there quite often and have always wanted to head out for tuna but never have, I was out there this last weekend salmon fishing and it was beautiful, haven't seen it that flat calm in years. My questions are everything.......! What to use and how to use it, also where do you go out there, is there something specific to look for, i really want to catch some tuna can you tell LoL !!

Looks like you had a really good time just by the amount of blood in yer boat !!!

Nice haul, I just fished tuna for the first time last year. I can't wait to get out there again.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

Thanks. Tuna fishing is addicting no doubt. They can fight like a 40 lb king. I emptied out some of my pm's sorry about that. I am no expert so not much to share as it was my first trip. I have a buddy with all the gear and experience but no boat so thats a perfect mix. You defenitely have to have the special tuna gear and heavy rods and handlines. There is tons of info on bloodydecks.com in the washington forum that the guys who fish tuna have shared. Going with someone who has fished for them before is a huge help.
