Praying for rain
« on: August 08, 2012, 05:30:04 PM »
I thought I would be the first to start this post this year. I'm really hoping to avoid the mess of last seasons early archery fire closures!

Forecast looks OK so far as theres been low clouds hanging around over most of Western WA until the early afternoons. Hope we get a couple days of good rains before Sept.

I guess only hunters and fishermen would ever pray for rain in the Pacific NW.  :chuckle:

:yeah:  Rain, but no lightning.  Forecast is for another couple of weeks of hot dry weather.  Typical for the eastside this time of year!  :'(

I'm doing the rain dance as well. The early part of summer was the wettest I can remember but it's been warm and dry with a few hot days, I'd say it's not good. Really hoping for some good rain soon!

If we get no rain in the next 2.5 weeks, they will shut down the timber lands right before Labor Day weekend.  That is my prediction.

I will be on my knees praying. Last year on the east side was just a couple degrees shy of 100 until the last 3 days. Too HOT

Don't want a repeat of last season where we were shut out for most of the early season. Come on cool weather and some rain, Oregon just upgraded thier fire danger restrictions. I am sure WEYCO is close to putting up the big red signs. Oh wait that doesn't happen till Labor day since season is a few days later.

That is how I ended up hunting the Manastash for 20 years, but no late nights around the campfire swapping stories.

Understand on the firepit, it sure beats the crap out of everywhere you go seeing no public entry signs though doesnt it ?
And every year some idiot gets a ticket up there for having a fire anyway, the trees over on that side are just red and dead.
sucks to only have one way in and one way out .

my new spot is state land, dnr campsite with established firepits.
gated roads with walk in access allowed, see more hunters during closure years, but they are usually too lazy to walk very far behind the gates.
