Big cinnamon walks the hill side
« on: August 13, 2012, 11:32:22 AM »
I went up to Blewett Pass for a couple days. First day im setting up my Buddy's treestand for him and  he saw a nice 250+ pound Black Bear walk the rocks, he didn't have a whole lot of time to get the shot off but it should have been enough time to get a good shot off. But he was using his .243 but i told him to grab my 30-06 but he said he would be fine. So he gets a steady rest on the quad and pops one off. It looked like he was struggling when we saw him running, but we worked our butts off looking for him. No sine of him Being hit. we ranged him at 238yds the gun was zeroed at 200. Lots and lots of sines of bears but nothing else was seen.

Is it still illegal if only the gun was resting on the quad  :dunno:

Hopefully the bear wasn't hit.

Law say you cant have a loaded firearm `in or on a motor vehicle`.
Its illegal to just set your gun on a vehocle if its loaded.

Nope, touching it in any way is considered from the vehicle. Cant even lean a loaded firearm against a tire or anything like that = loaded firearm in/on/from a motor vehicle.

Page 73 of 2012 regs state....It is illegal to carry, convey, transport, possess,or controla loaded shotgun or rifle in or on any motor vehicle. A rifle or shotgun containing shells or cartridges in either the chamber or magazine, or a muzzleloading firearm that is loaded & capped or primed is considerd loaded.

Depending on where he was on blewitt pass it is also illegal to have quads.  I do know there are some roads that allow them...even behind gates, but there are a lot more that do not.  If I was the guy who started this thread I would delete it ASAP as to not start a fire that will burn for days.  Good Luck.

:yeah: The poster said that he was in his buddies tree stand but yet he was by his buddy on the quad :dunno: I am not sure why he even posted this thread in the first place. This is a different first post for sure.

Setting up the stand is different than being in it.

Wow!!!!  the lack of ethics in this thread is absolutely unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!

Shooting from a motorized vehicle..

Shooting a very good sized bear at over 200 yards with a .243???

Then admitting to seeing it struggling

Admitting to losing the bear after " we worked our butts off looking for him. "  what does this mean???  Did you spend several days looking for the bear????  WE ALL know that bear fat plugs up bullet holes.. ESPECIALLY small ones like 6MM.....  So how did you determine it was not hit????

This whole post does nothing but Piss me off...  anti's reading this just laugh, copy and paste, for more ammo in their fight for our hunting rights....       :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Besides the illegal activity of shooting off the quad!

Where is Outdoor Guardian when you need him....
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.
