Excited....all packed and ready for tomorrow
« on: August 14, 2012, 07:38:10 PM »
Finally got my arse in gear and am ready for my first outing. Truck is packed, trigger lock is off the rifle, correct ammo packed, a few Gatorades, a new book, and some quick blind making material. I'm heading up to a little spot that is going to have about 40 yards max range on a shot. My plan is to sit, wait, watch, and do some calling. I've double checked my license, tag, knives, headlight, rope, and plenty of TP. Got my bike in the FJ, got my game cart and a tarp as well. My plan is to shoot the furry beast with my .308 and have a DRT bear. Get it cleaned out and maybe even game bagged to keep the bugs off. Then, bike back to the truck, grap my game cart, head back up and load him on, then back to the truck. I'll skin him tomorrow night, qtr, halve, whatever it takes to get him into a cooler with some ice for overnight. To the butcher I'll go on Thursaday on my lunch.

Now all I need is a bear.

Wish me luck!

Good luck!  Make sure to pack a ton of water, I went out this morning with a fellow HUNTWA member and we were sweating buckets by 0800.

Good luck...hope you nail one of those furry little buggers.  If I remember right this would be your first, as it was mine this last friday, if you connect it will be all you think about for days.   :chuckle: :chuckle:

Yep. Looking for my first. Had a shot on one last year....DRock and I called him Little Fatty. Had a big bow close with my bow but needed him another 10 or 15 yards closer. Got my Gatorade packed. Thanks for the well wishes.

By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Where you going ? I'm packed up and headed to the Loomis/Okanogan/Winthrop area. I might motel it because I'm alone and vulnerable to single women in the woods............ :chuckle:

I believe there is a fire north of Winthrop now.  Fairly small, but you should be aware of it.  FYI...  http://www.inciweb.org/incident/3133/

Good luck to you guys. Wish I had the funds this year to make it out for more than just a day hunt here and there this year for bear. Saving my $$ and time off for deer and elk this year
