high hunt buddy?
« on: May 25, 2012, 09:58:28 PM »
Any body out there thinking about the high hunt and need a buddy?  This would be my first high hunt.  Years of backpacking and SAR, I'm good in the back country. Willing to split gas and trade off carrying meat. I'm in Monroe but would go anyplace really.
Such is life in the West and the further West the more the such.

Hello,

I am gearing up for my second high mountain buck hunt in the Olympic Mountains. Not sure if my current huning partner is going to make it and I do not mind having a second hunting buddy along. Let me know if you are interested.

Was going to start my own thread but I thought I'd try you guys first-

I just picked up a cancellation with an outfitter to do a dropcamp during the High Buck in Glacier Peak Wilderness.  The trip is locked - I'm sending in deposits today.  My regular hunting pard can't get his kitchen pass signed for this one, so I'm looking to pick up one or two guys to go along for this year's trip.  This is no joke of a hunt - the horses will drop us, a wall tent and gear 11 miles from the trailhead and pick us up 9 days later.  Base camp at nearly 5000' and the ridges around us go to 7000'+.  Looking for one, maybe two SERIOUS hunters to go with.  Not a hardcore drinking camp, but I'll probably have a flask on hand for the celebration if a nice buck goes down.  I'm willing to help a little with the financial side of it if you're the right guy and cash flow is a problem.

PM me for details.

Hi,

I'm looking forward to my first high buck hunt. I've been trying to get a deer for a few years now but is been difficult to get out for more than a couple days since i've been a college student. Now that's over and i look forward to a long hunting season. I'm still trying to figure out where to go, since I haven't explored any of the wilderness areas but have to hesitations about climbing high. I've got a sturdy pack, a strong back, and plenty of energy!

Actually, it'd be awesome to come along with someone that knows an area because otherise I'd most likely be in new territory on my own. If anyone out there is willing to take a young buck along to help him get his first deer, please PM me.

Also, Pm's about any location tips would be much appreciated!

Bonus: I'm on my own, with no family or friends that hunt, so I'd love to join on any hunt this season, where someone is willing to accomadate one more, even if that just means an extra hand to help you pack out. More than happy to split gas, etc.
Some guys wear turtlenecks and sip cofee...I hunt.

I was toying with the idea of a high hunt this year. Its always nice to get into the backcountry and be away from the crowds. However, I just don't have all the gear I would want to have yet. I'm actually thinking of a possible outfitter drop camp to make it a bit easier. Just need a few more people.
