Display on humminbird 718
« on: August 21, 2012, 01:17:35 AM »
Okay, feeling like a moron right about now.  Had this installed on my boat when I bought it but I haven't messed around with it much since.  Checking out the specs online it says temp is built in but try as I might, I don't see a temperature display.  Anybody point me in the right direction?  Thanks

Do you have the manual?  If not....

Have you tried returning it to default mode?

There should be a menu item that allows you to show what is displayed on the screen.  I can't remember off hand the sequence to get there.  it is probably similar to my 788 though.

Thanks fellas, I printed off all 102 pages and restored defaults on the fish finder.  Guess I won't be able to tell if that worked until it's in the water.

Just got off the phone with technical support, walked me through some troubleshooting and they decided it might be in my unit itself so i'll be sending it in.  I'll keep you posted how it turns out, so far I'm happy with their customer service.

Temperature should work even out of the water, will just give you air temperature.

Yeah,  thought it was strange not to see it without being in the water.  Wanted something different, may just swap it all out

Sent the unit it, got there last Friday morning and was shipped back out that afternoon. Opened the box and the repair slip said there was nothing wrong with the unit so it must be the transducer.....great. Well underneath the unit was a brand new transducer and they also installed updates at no charge.  I think I'll stay with the humminbird line when I upgrade.

That is the biggest reason why I stayed away from lowrance and went with humminbird. Their cs is top notch. Glad to hear they went above and beyond.
