Yes,

Headquarters road, Rose Valley, Kalama river road, Ostrander.

Closed to vehicle travel, open to walk-in, bikes or horseback as of now.

Lots of hunters. The first year I hunted it, I scouted fairly well, found a good road to bike in on with lots of elk, opening day I showed up and there were 17 rigs at the gate  :yike:

Couldn't believe it. Not sure if thats the norm or not. We finished the weekend hunting there, saw plenty of elk but ALOT of hunters and I was surprised at how many people biked in. Normally its not that hard to get away from other hunters, since from my experience most are lazy... but apparently not in the Coweeman. This was off headquarters road and Rose Valley. Just my experience from one year though.

It gets really crowded during modern season, that's for sure.

:yeah:
The whole area is open for travel during modern and gets road hunted pretty hard. Your best bet there is to get up as high as you can and off the road. Hunt the dark timber in between the clear cuts. Last year during modern we never got a shot, but not too far into the timber, you could hear them snapping twigs ahead of us.
That wasn't me! It was a black Camaro! It went that way!
