WDFW pot bust in the Klickitat

So WDFW officers are so short handed they can not properly cover the patrols they are given to enforce the game laws.. but they have plenty of time to gather the troops and bust a pot grow??????

Was told by a WDFW LEO that if I called about a deer being poached, he is not going to drop anything to race over and check it out....  he does not have time for that..  They are spread to thin...

So, if you see an elk being poached in the Colockum, do not be surprised when they get away with it... WDFW is looking for more pot plants somewhere..

By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

This doesn't bother me. How much habitat damage is caused by these grow ops? How many animals are they poaching while growing? Have you seen how they polute the water supply? We can debate all day long about wether or not pot should be legal, (I think it should even though I loath pot heads) but until the day we solve economic incentives to participate in this behavior we need to be activly shutting down crap like this.

Congrats and thank you go out to the LEO's who got the job done.

Doesn't bother me either. Less crap I need to worry about my kids running into in the woods.

Is it just me or does it seem like they are finding more after the recent fires with all the helos flying around...hmmmmm?
Reminds me of a pot grow bust years ago in issaquah right next to Lk samm state park (in the big over grown area just east of the park), there was a D.A.R.E. program helo flying from some event in redmond to issaquah and wouldn't you know it they flew over that part of the park and there was a large cut out area right in the middle of a blackberry patch. Talk about right in your backyard...
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

It's the Medstar Heli that confuses me. :dunno: Medstar is a non profit company, I know we could call them out to help with search and rescue ops. But this is the first time I have seen it used for police use.

Glad they found the pot grow before some hunter found it.

Common misconception about marijuana eradication in WA. In WA the "lead" agency for weed eradication is actually the State Patrol. HOWEVER WSP provides grants to just about every county sheriffs office, several cities, and yes WDFW to pay for officers to eradicate marijuana. The WDFW marijuana eradication team is 100% fully funded by this grant and no "patrol time" is taken off their schedules to eradicate weed. ALSO, this raid was on BLM land. BLM pays WDFW 40k a year to do law enforcement patrols on BLM land. BLM only has 2 Law Enforcement Rangers for all of WA, so they pay WDFW and several counties to assist with patrols

The same goes for boating safety. Most of your city PD/county SO boat patrols are funded through a Washington State Parks grant. Parks is the state lead for both snowmobile and boating safety. WDFW gets the funding equivalent of 1/2 officer position to do boating safety patrols. So the officers who were patrolling during SeaFair were being funded by a Parks Boating Safety Grant, NOT fishing and hunting license fees.

WDFW and many SO's also get snowmobile patrol grants from Parks.

Ever wonder what the State Troopers are doing parked in the median of the freeway?  They're sparking one up.

Good post bigtex.

I as well commend the WDFW for this.
