WDFW pot bust in the Klickitat

So WDFW officers are so short handed they can not properly cover the patrols they are given to enforce the game laws.. but they have plenty of time to gather the troops and bust a pot grow??????

Was told by a WDFW LEO that if I called about a deer being poached, he is not going to drop anything to race over and check it out....  he does not have time for that..  They are spread to thin...

So, if you see an elk being poached in the Colockum, do not be surprised when they get away with it... WDFW is looking for more pot plants somewhere..

By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

This doesn't bother me. How much habitat damage is caused by these grow ops? How many animals are they poaching while growing? Have you seen how they polute the water supply? We can debate all day long about wether or not pot should be legal, (I think it should even though I loath pot heads) but until the day we solve economic incentives to participate in this behavior we need to be activly shutting down crap like this.

Congrats and thank you go out to the LEO's who got the job done.

Doesn't bother me either. Less crap I need to worry about my kids running into in the woods.

Is it just me or does it seem like they are finding more after the recent fires with all the helos flying around...hmmmmm?
Reminds me of a pot grow bust years ago in issaquah right next to Lk samm state park (in the big over grown area just east of the park), there was a D.A.R.E. program helo flying from some event in redmond to issaquah and wouldn't you know it they flew over that part of the park and there was a large cut out area right in the middle of a blackberry patch. Talk about right in your backyard...
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

It's the Medstar Heli that confuses me. :dunno: Medstar is a non profit company, I know we could call them out to help with search and rescue ops. But this is the first time I have seen it used for police use.

Glad they found the pot grow before some hunter found it.

Common misconception about marijuana eradication in WA. In WA the "lead" agency for weed eradication is actually the State Patrol. HOWEVER WSP provides grants to just about every county sheriffs office, several cities, and yes WDFW to pay for officers to eradicate marijuana. The WDFW marijuana eradication team is 100% fully funded by this grant and no "patrol time" is taken off their schedules to eradicate weed. ALSO, this raid was on BLM land. BLM pays WDFW 40k a year to do law enforcement patrols on BLM land. BLM only has 2 Law Enforcement Rangers for all of WA, so they pay WDFW and several counties to assist with patrols

The same goes for boating safety. Most of your city PD/county SO boat patrols are funded through a Washington State Parks grant. Parks is the state lead for both snowmobile and boating safety. WDFW gets the funding equivalent of 1/2 officer position to do boating safety patrols. So the officers who were patrolling during SeaFair were being funded by a Parks Boating Safety Grant, NOT fishing and hunting license fees.

WDFW and many SO's also get snowmobile patrol grants from Parks.

I have to say that Fish and Wildlife only had a small part of this.  There were two officers out of many.  The Klickitat County Sheriff's Office and WSP did a lot of work on the investigation.  Many more arrest followed the eradication of this grow.  The boss was arrested as well as others.  Due to this there are other areas now clean of weed and illegals packing firearms.  Good work to all involved.  Not just the two WDFW Officers.  Carpsniper have at it.  I know you have something to say.

:chuckle: Not to much to say, but good job to all envoled! A lot of time and months of work went into the planning of this.

I am safer due to this bust. This bust was on one of our chunks of ground that we hold the lease on. I could have walked right into it and not even know about it. Who knows what the out come may have been. I am thankful for all the guys out there that fight this crap.

No not you :chuckle: The people that get ticked at cops for doing the bust. Saying they have better things to do and should not worry about the weed. Most of the time when you hear stuff like that, the person saying that is a fan of the WEED :chuckle:

When I go out in the woods in E.W. I don't want to be worried about some armed tweeker sniping at me because his grow operation is just over the ridge. They should just grow their stuff in rental houses in Lynnwood like everyone else........

Good on you for putting out this info.

the folks in the lead do a fantastic job with their limited resources

A friend of mine was found dead over 20 years ago when he stumbled on a pot grow while hiking in the wilds in N California. Shot in back of the head and dumped in a canyon. Body found a week later. Great guy and wonderful human being.

Almost all of the large grows in the US are run and controlled by the cartels from Mexico. The individuals that are left in these grows to water and maintain are always armed. The grows are typically located in remote regions where outdoorsmen frequent and walk into these grow operations.

So WDFW officers are so short handed they can not properly cover the patrols they are given to enforce the game laws.. but they have plenty of time to gather the troops and bust a pot grow??????

Check out the show Wild Justice about the California Game Department.  They are raiding these pot operations just about every week.

They show how the growers are damming up creeks for irrigation, using toxic chemicals for fertilizer, poaching for food and throwing all their thrash in the woods.  They don't believe in pack-it-in/pack-it-out.  All these guys are armed and are a danger to anyone who stumbles across their operation.  Most likely us hunters.

To state that the Game Dept is wasting their time on getting rid of these losers is a very misinformed statement.

Having them on patrol at Seafair...now that's a different story.

:bash: Amen,  :yeah: I am always thinking what if I find a grow operation. Especially if I have my daughters with me on a Hunt. I would rather have the WFDW spend all their time looking for these scumbag Illegals poisoning our Families with these drugs, and making our wilderness a mess. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot first and ask questions later!  :bdid:
