oregon buck down
« on: September 07, 2012, 09:47:33 AM »
i know this is an hunt washington forum but thought i would share this with you guys.
i have been sicker then hell for the last couple days so i was at home just relaxing trying to get over this cold. My buddy called me and told me to get out of the house he had spotted a nice 4x3 bedded down. so as quick as i could i grabbed my stuff and out the door i ran. i really didnt think the buck would still be there when i got there, I has a 25 min drive. well when i got there we could seen the buck still bedded down in the same spot so i decided to put a stock on him. i knocked an arrow and headed after him. after about 20 minutes i came up on the buck still bedded and  i drew back just as he stood up. i put my arrow right through the front of his chest. he took off and then i herd him crash. i waited for my buddy to show up and we track him for about 15 yrds and he was piled up.
he just got out of velvet nice 4x3! i couldnt be happier!

Nice job. I think you need to buy your buddy a six pack. By the look of the chest/neck doesn't look like he had a chance of getting very far. Congrats.

100 grain slick trick on a gold tip xt hunter. total weight is 415 grains out of a 80lb hoyt vector 35 moving 322fps. no minium arrow weight in oregon. got almost a complete pass through for front of the chest to back of deer. there was 6 inches of arrow sticking out.

Nasty....always interested in bullet/broadhead performance once the metal meets the meat.
