Backcountry Oregon Bull
« on: September 12, 2012, 10:10:07 PM »
Not sure if I should have posted this in the backcountry section or the elk. But its gotta alot of both!!

I dont have alot of time for a long story..... Gotta leave in the am to try and fill hunting partners elk tag and my buck tag.  :IBCOOL:

The short version  :chuckle:  After a 8 tough but great days of hunting, being in elk often and passing up some bulls I never thought I would. Was able to intercept this guy on a trail, while listening to two other bulls sparring 70 yards away. He never knew what hit him!! Although I saw and stalked some larger bulls, I also passed several smaller waiting for a the right one and he was it. My best to date and I coudnt be happier!!

It was an awesome trip, and included finding some good sheds and enjoying some great country  You gotta love that.
As a side note congratz to all you successful Roosevelt guys! I love seeing those dudes  I was hoping for a double this year, and while coming close it just didnt happen. With the fire closures we are heading back over to oregon so its looking like thats a wrap for rosie bulls. Onto pics....

hope you find the owner of those mulie sheds. I would love to see a pic of that thing. Did it have drop tines on both sides?

I would love to find him! He only had the drop off the right side. I was almost as pumped to find the sheds as I was to get the bull.

Awesome pics! Nice work. Go get your buddy his bull!! That buck shed is ridiculous. Is that the matching side on the top of the pic? If so, I'd like to know what that looks like holding them together and also what it scores. Wow!  :o

Thank you for that.  As one who loved hunting the backcountry before heart issues sidelined me, I really appreciate quality photos and the opportunity to share others' hunts vicariously.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
