Care to say which area. Bet it was the one we were hunting if it is in high country. We were archery. No name lakes ring a bell.

Nicely done. Here's the reporting link for hoof rot.

These are all of the photos my brother and I have at this time. They do not do this bull justice!

From What I heard, our friend and his buddies had set up camp Saturday before the hunt was to begin Monday and did quite a bit of last minute scouting, since the archery hunt had just ended and we knew the area had received some pressure from at least one or two camps nearby.   At first light Monday they hiked to the ridge overlooking a basin we have been watching all summer that held some good bulls.  Opening morning the 6x6 bull and his cows were down in the bottom as expected.  The group spent a couple hours glassing the bull, who wasn't moving.  They were getting ready  to plan a stalk on him, and at about the same time there was another hunter below (could have also been someone scouting), they did not know about that let off some bugles. The Bull didn't seem to care for that, so he rounded up his cows and moved up and out of the basin, and up to the saddle where our friend was able to put a clean shot at about 100 yards on the bull.  They spent the next 2 days packing him out to the truck and breaking camp, etc.

Between his group and my brother and I, we figure we had 10+ scouting trips and many overnighters since May in the backcountry.  We had most of the big bulls all located in different basins. The weather was clear and cold, and actually got fairly warm up there Monday.  Hopefully things will be mild but cold when we are back to fill our Whittier tag!

Thats really cool. Pretty sure I've seen that guy with the twisted right side. If its the one I saw he looked a lot weaker in the bottoms through the spotter than he looks in your pics.

Where have I seen that pic with the other big 6 in the back before? Dejavu.... Those 2 Fords look familiar, LOL!!

Nice bulls guys.... CONGRATS!!! He is well earned and you did the tag justice!

Hell, according to a lot of "experts" on this forum, and it seems the WDFW, there just are not any big bulls in the Margaret...

Hmmmmmmmmmmm sure you guys were in the right area????

Of course maybe they all want to shoot from the road, or be able to load em in whole off a Weyco clearcut... who knows..

I even heard some "experts" that shot a smaller 4 point saying; "we scouted for months and there just really aren't any 6 points up there. 5 points is as big as they get, something about the genetics." Way to go on an awesome bull!

I've been scouting for months and hunting very neer there for a few years now spending time glassing Loowit/Margaret elk.  I fully agree that place favors 5 points like you wouldnt believe. But even I've seen a 6x6 or two. They are just rare. Since that ones now dead they are a bit rarer yet.

In my opinion them boys worked hard and did that tag real justice. That is a representative jumbo for that unit as far as I've seen.
