Late archery elk westside ?
« on: September 18, 2012, 09:59:30 PM »
I have a cow tag for the wynoochie late season. This is my first year archery hunting elk, and first time hunting elk on the west side. Are the elk very talkitive during this time? Do you guys have any luck at least locating cows with calls?

I don't think any elk are talkative on the peninsula outside of the rut.  Although I did have a cow 'bark' at me  :dunno: .  They learned to be quiet because of all the cougars that are attracted to cow calls.

Yea thats how I will hunt and scout regardless........ just wandering how talkative, and wether or not anyone uses any cow calls.  During the early season down at Indian Heaven Hills they were'nt to talkative. I got on them a couple times, once within 20yards (to brushy), but had a real tough time with the wind. It changed directions so much I didnt have a chance. :bash:
Still had alot more fun than usually do with modern.
