Well, in 5 or 6 trips to Cabela's I've yet to spend a dime and doubt I ever will, just been keeping an eye out for a deer gun for my daughter and saw a couple prospects there but got sticker shock when I saw the prices. Got me wondering if they were just targetting suckers that don't know what their looking at or if you had to haggle with them, even if they did come down I'm sure I could do better elsewhere.
I'll stick with the 2 local gun stores.
Thanks

There's plenty of local pawn shops that are good to work with in the general area. I like Sarges on whatever road parallels I-5 connecting bridgeport to gravelly lake

I bought a Kimber ultra raptor 2 from them last winter for $850. It was just a show gun so never been shot but was technically used. I had a $50 off $500 purchase or more so actually got it for $800... That was a pretty good deal. Normally I'd never buy a gun there the whole place is hard for me to stand but I couldn't pass it up.

there are good deals there occasionally, you just have to be there at the right time, beacuse they go fast. if you find a good deal, dont set it down beacuse the next guy will pick it up and buy it.

I've gotten some good deals there, a Stevens 222 Rem for $150 w/Weaver K-4,  An Italian O/U combo gun in like new condition for a MUCH better price than I found anywhere., I had them bring it in from anothers store and they did do some hagling on the price, and another European hammer shotgun in great condition for a 1/3 the going price on the auction sights.

I reload so odd calibers make some great deals, just try and buy a box of 5.6x50R Mag.  I rounded up 200rounds of brass and I'm set for the rest of my life.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I like to fondle guns in Cabelas then purchase them elsewhere  :chuckle:

..........fondle ??

Yes, "fondle" is a gun shop term.  Not to be confused with the other type of "fondling".  :chuckle:  :chuckle: But sometimes elicits the same reaction....so I'm told.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

Have gotten some good deals.  Trick is to search their gun library.  Every now and then you'll find some grossly under priced.  Cost $25 non refundable to ship store to store to actually see in person.  Every gun I bought this way looked better in person than in photos.

Missed a few....if it looks like a good deal, it probably is.

It is getting harder and harder to find good used guns.  People treat them like heirlooms and the family jewels.  They are expensive but I find stuff that I just don't see that often anymore.  I kick myself occasionally because I could have picked up a truck load of 30-30's for $150 each (what seems like) just a few short years ago.  Try finding a double barrel .410 these days.  The market sets the prices, they sure sell a lot of guns.

It's a crap shoot, but every now and again you will find a good deal. If you are into surplus military rifles and handguns, many times they will be priced much lower than the going rate.

Guess those are just something they can't look up in a database, takes real knowledge of the weapon to understand its true value :)

I live a couple of miles from the Lacey store. I go there to look at guns; then I buy elsewhere. ALL OF THEIR GUNS, NEW AND USED; ARE WAY OVERPRICED! >:( They will not allow military to have the 5% discount on guns; :o Wholesale Sports Outfitters®, and Sportsmans Warehouse® do.  :)

A few weeks ago my wife & I were with another couple gun shopping. The lady wanted a Taurus® Mdl 617SS2 seven shot 357 Magnum snub nose. Cabelas® wanted $95.00 more than Wholesale Sports Outfitters®. By purchasing at Wholesale Sports Outfitters® not only did she save the $95.00; she got the 5% Military Discount.

A couple of years ago a close friend was looking for a particular rifle; specifically a Browning® BLR in 7mm Remington® Magnum. Cabelas® wanted $969.99 (Browning®'s MSRP) and wouldn't budge on the price. >:( :o The same exact rifle was $819.99 at Wholesale sports Outfitters®. Not only was the gun $150.00 cheaper, he got an additional $41.00 (5%) off.

The only thing I buy from Cabelas® is ammunition; and then, only if on sale!

Last week I bought a Sig P250 two sum (1 subcompact frame & barrel & 1full size frame & barrel with 1 trigger assembly that you put into whichever frame you want to shoot) at Sportco for $512, Cabelas wants $599 for the exact set up. Also last week , my wife got an XD 9mm at Sportco for even more of a savings then I did compared to Cabelas. :twocents:

In the 5ish years I have been kicking tires there.... I have found three good deals. An Italian Churchill o/u, a Parker SxS and a 700bdlss donor. In those three I saved about $5000.00 off of retail. On any given day, I can walk through there and see so many over priced guns it makes me wonder how I scored a deal.....let alone three times.
