Sitka Gear: 90% vs. Ascent vs. Mountain vs. Timberline pants

I'm looking to get some Sitka Gear pants soon and am trying to decide between the different options.  I've worn the 90% pants before and was very happy with them but can't decide between the options on the other three.  Anyone have any insight from their experiences?

Get Kuiu Attack pants...but, if you're insisting on Sitka, I personally like the Mountain Pants for all around.  The 90% are good for late season, but pretty warm and I have trouble with the fit of the Ascent pants (although maybe they've fixed that on the newer versions.)

The Kuiu pants fit and finish are better all around in my opinion, though.  I'll be getting a pair of the Verde color pattern when it comes out.

I have the 90% pant but just acquired an attack pant from Kuiu.  I like the Kuiu better.

my older ascent pants were a great fit until i lost a few more LBs, now they look kinda gangster

I own them all.  Totally depends on the times and style of your hunting.  Overall, I would recommend the 90% if they fit comfortably.

I have some light weight Arc'teryx pants that are great for warmer weather hunts so I don't necessarily need the lightest weight pants.   At the same time I am a very active hunter - lots of climbing/backcountry travelling/off trail travelling etc. and hunt all seasons from August all the way through to December.  My Arc'teryx pants are a bit loud on the stalk and not camo so I was thinking of making the jump for some good camo clothing.  I was leaning towards the 90% or the Timberline but could be talked into any of them, just wondering on the pros and cons of the different pants.

In that case, I'd personally lean towards the 90% of the mountain pants.   They're both quiet, yet rugged.  If you plan on using your own belt, go 90%.

For off trail/back-country/climbing type of hunting I’d steer you towards the Ascent Pants as the 90% would be TOO warm.  I’ve been wearing the Ascent Pants for 4 years now here in Montana and have no complaints! Great for hot August weather up through cold November weather when layered with long underwear.   The Ascents are stretchy, durable, light, and the roll up leg feature is a huge plus for creek crossings and hot days.  All the other Sitka pants are sweet for certain applications but none cover all the spectrums as well as the Ascents.

I really like the stretchy part of the ascent pant for climbing over stuff and not hindering movement plus they are great in hot weather and easily wear a layer under for cold weather

How well do the sitka pants keep you dry? I am looking into sitka also. I do a lot of hiking and want good mobility and not be soaking wet! Quiet is a must of course.... I dont need to sound like a trash bag.

not bad, but not even close to waterproof...most waterproof stuff is pretty loud in the brush when walking..no way around it to make it 100% water proof

I wish I could get the 90% pants with the Timberline waterproof butt section.  That's why I sort of lean toward the Timberline Pants.

I agree.  The OP said he had warmer weather pants, so I kind of left the Ascent Pants out.  Their stretch and comfortability are unbeatable.

Have both the 90% and the Ascent.
Both are just water resistant, not waterproof, so they will eventually get thru.  That being said, I have never soaked thru but I have not been caught in a storm that would have done so.
If your going to sit and it's wet, just toss a kitchen trash bag in your pack and break that out to sit on.
The nice thing about the Ascent's is the layering underneath makes these pants.  I have been in weather down to 20* and light/med wind, with layering, and not been at all cold.  And I typically get cold when the wind the blows!  I have also been in 75*+ weather, without layering, and did not sweat like crazy.
The only time I break out the 90% are when the temps are not going to crack 30*, or it's a very cold wind, or I plan on doing a lot of sitting/spotting.  Add a pair of core bottoms or core merino in the mix to the 90% and I have been in -10* with a slight breeze and light snow and not been cold.
I have tossed the Ascent's in my pack and changed out from the 90% in the field on those wide temp swing days.  On day hikes, 20oz or 25oz depending on which pants are in the pack, really is kind of an un-noticed weight.
