Elk shoulder mounts
« on: September 26, 2012, 06:41:13 AM »
I have short ceilings and need some ideas on how to mount my bull?!?!? I'm thinking a 90 degree turn with his head kicked back a little to run his antlers horizontal.

That's a good way to do it. We usually try to turn the head out in to the room a little more so it's not a 90 degree turn, for viewing purposes. Depends on the size of the antlers as to how far you can turn it until the antlers hit the wall.
We give your trophy that final compliment!

It has a 43" spread and we took lots of cape do of need be I can throw some spacers on the back of the mount. I don't really have anything set in stone just throwing around ideas at the moment. Also thought about having him come out of the wall at a 45 with a 45 mount and head tipped back.

Sounds like a good canditate for a pedistal mount. And that will make it a little more mobile if you need to move him around.

Pedestal mount I did . This bull is 45 wide outside. Big variation on pedestal mount prices as there are a ton of options.

I used Peyser taxidermy in Selah with mine.  I drew a schematic of the wall with the dimensions of where it was going and he adjusted the mount to fit in the limited space that i had.  I see alot of taxidermists here on this web forum and I am sure that anyone of them with much experience can take the horns that you have and a dimension drawing of where you want it and come up with something that will work or be able to tell you it cant be done.  Good Luck!

How much cape do you need for a pedestal.

That looks even more impressive complete! I saw it right before it was done at the shop and I have to say, your quality of work speaks for itself!
