Dry condtions
« on: October 01, 2012, 06:22:39 AM »
I was out this past weekend fired up for the start of early muzzle loader season like many of you. However the gated roads we hunt at in Kitsap county all had no tresspassing signs due to weather conditions and fire danger. Every gate had these signs. At one point we stopped at a gas station to get a snack and try and figure out an alternate plan the attendant working asked my hunting partner if he was allowed to hunt. He responded yeah it is muzzle loader season. The attendant told him he had heard that Kitsap county had shut down hunting due to the dry conditions and fire danger. I don't know if this true but that really screwed our day. Is anyone else experiencing this problem as well? For those that live in Kitsap county is it true that the season is over because of fire danger? Does anyone have or know where i can check the status of an area for fire danger? Is this something that is state wide? We all agree we need rain. I just hope the dry season has not shortend my hunting season. Guess there is always late hunt if it has.

The county does not shut down hunting.  The landowners are not allowing public access because of fire danger.  DNR is still open.

Most of hunters have been working on plans b and c for weeks now.

Never been, but Green Mountain State Forest in Kitsap County should be open.

I know this does not help you any but... miles east of you - it is tender dry here also and shooting a ML in these conditions could really be a probablamatic thing especially if you are shooting close to the ground... take care.
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

Thanks for the information. I know east of the mountains is like a tender box. On the west side of the mountains it is something we are not used to. i am sorry if it seems like I am complaining. I can't believe I am asking for rain :bash:. I do not want to be a starter of a forest fire, that's all this post was about.
