First year with muzzleloader

 This was my first year hunting with a muzzleloader and it is fun! I was lucky enough to draw a hunt here in Oregon that only had 21 tags for any deer.
 I shot a 3 point at 75 yards...second day of a 6 day season.... small rack but big bodied. Hunting in a snow storm and cold!
 I use to archery hunt but I am now hooked on black powder!!!

It's pretty addictive... there's something about pouring powder down the bore, and pushing that bullet down...  (of course, you do pay the price when you clean the thing!).  Best of luck to you in your smokepole career!

I know exactly what you are feeling!  Somehow the smoke and fire add a lot to the experience, don't they?

 I have enough pref. points to draw my any elk tag on the wet side of the Cascades next year. Looks like another fun hunt 12 months from now also!.
 I am far more confident now with my muzzle loader. It is a Traditions evolution 50... not the best gun out there but sure doesn't seem to give me and problems.

Muzzle-loading is a lot of fun.
WDFW needs to open more areas to us for me to commit fully.

I am in Oregon.... 1/2 between Portland and Eugene. And that is as close as I want to live to either one of those towns. I actually live out side of a town called Lebanon, 1/2 to Albany... again as close as I would want to live to them also..... LOL

This is my 1st year with the muzzy and its been alot of fun, I have a multi-season deer tag and have been using it during modern season as well. That being said, I wont spend $200+ again on a MS deer tag so unless I draw a MS elk tag somewhere down the road, I probably wont use the muzzy much in the future, still to addicted to the stick and string.

This is true.  It probably won't happen but we can dream.  Oh well, I've already decided to go to archery anyway.  I had a lot of fun during MZ season but it's too short to enjoy for me.

Once your hooked on smoke poles its hard to go back to modern rifle.
