So I am new to the area and looking to chat with someone who has been bird hunting the area for sometime to get some ideas of the area.  I have a great pointing lab and need to get him out on some areas...  let me know if anyone can chat with me about this..

I won't give out any areas but the best place to start is to map some feel free to hunt locations on wdfw's website.  That's how i started, and have done ok finding spots.

Where are you from?  What type of hunting have you done in the past and what specifically are you looking for?

I'm new to the area as well and have been doing some research. I have found an area to shoot pheasants and have walked it a couple times but not seen anything. i don't have a dog and understand they could be underfoot and you wouldn't see them so you need a dog. I'd be interested in hunting with you if you want.

There are Pheasant release site out by Sprague.  These site would be good for opening day and such but will not be your best bet for long term enjoyment.  There are many good areas in Whitman county, I would just drive some of the back roads and talk with farmers to gain access to hunt.  There is also some CRP down by Saint John that is open to hunt as well.

The upland birds are down this year close to Spokane, cold, wet hatch.  Pheasants, quail and huns are about but less than half of normal.  Nearly all is private land, most is landlord ground, not owned by the families that farm it.  Do your home work, meet the people, make yourself useful and you will have more good habitat than you know what to do with.  A lot of Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres were signed up with public access points.  Great bird habitat but you still must make the personal contacts to find it.

I hear that!! I tried hatching some on my own. Had a good hatch. Then after a week they started dropping like flies.

Wish I could hunt my subdivision! I could kill all the quail, ducks and geese I could eat!
