Well, after getting back from a successful moose hunt the previous week up on Mica Peak I was able to hang out with my cousin, father in law, and brother in law (came home for the weekend from Boise State) and got to look for some deer. Deer numbers haven't been great this year so far on the property that we hunt so although hopes were high, we weren't counting on seeing a ton of deer this early in the season. First evening we spotted a bachelor group of bucks, but nothing that we were interested in going after. We backed out and left them be. My brother in law was getting in that night from Boise so we headed home a little early to meet up with him and watch some football. Next morning it was cold and clear. Everything was pretty uneventful until the last draw that we checked we were almost to the top of the draw and two bucks busted out of the trees and headed up on the hillside. My cousin got the bucks to stop and they were both legal bucks. They stood at 124 yards broadside for a little too long, just long enough for me to get a solid rest and send a Barnes Tipped MZ in the direction of the bigger buck. The shot was true and hit right behind the shoulder but a bit high, hitting the buck in the spine and dropping him in his tracks. After a quick follow-up shot the buck was done. It was a lot of fun to have the 4 of us together for this hunt, and to be able to take a pretty decent buck for what was in the area. Thanks to Carpsniperg2 for always letting me shoot first
