I'll start checking sets Monday. I'm going to put in a few more tomorrow so I'll swing by an area I've already set today and check it. Should start producing by next weekend.

Sweet.... One of my favorite threads by far.... Good luck and I really hope you get some wolves!!!!

I use to trap when I was a kid.... Found out it was all illegal.... I made snares and such just for something to do as a kid along with a bunch of hand made gripping traps that my Gramps gave me before he died!!! None of it was legal!!!!

Went out and checked my first snares of the season in the Valley and it was good and bad. I ended up getting a nice red that hadn't been in my set an hour and had another set that someone had crossed my line and decided to help themself to another fox. I could have followed there tracks but I just left them a note letting them know I've got cameras in the area and I would be letting fish and game know  ;) I don't care to get into a fight over an animal. (I've got a baggy full of notes,  :chuckle: )

First pic is coming down the trail to my first set, second and third pics are of what was in my first snare, fourth pic is on the remake of the set, fifth pic is the set that I lost a critter in with track leaving it, and the final pic is of a new set I made on top the ridge about 1/4 mile from the place I lost the last animal. Notice all the tracks running down the ridge (its a dirt hole set). I also put another snare down the ridge about 200 yds past the dirt hole.

Great thread teacherman. I look forward to more pics and info. I am going to get my trappers license this year for the first time....trying to learn what I can online about it. My grandpa used to trap in the dakotas in his youth to supplement income and I thought it would be a great way to get out a bit more in the winter. Be safe up there!
