Friggin deer!
« on: October 16, 2012, 10:53:30 PM »
My boy and I have been out the last four evenings and Saturday morning.  We've seen deer each day, including bucks.  I'm trying to get one up close and personal, less than 15 yards with my 1860 .44 revolver so haven't taken a shot yet.  Had a doe tonight at 6 yards but she had a fawn with her.  We get home, 8 minutes after shooting time, and there in my garden is a spike that we have seen behind the house a couple of times (he is a year older than the fork and three point in my other post today).  Somehow, the fence got nocked down on one corner of the garden.  Thrashed my kale and cabbage.

I think tomorrow evening we will pull the fence back and sit and wait to see which butt-head deer goes in there and whack him....   8)

You must have alot of deer on that island. Have you ever hunted the sheep out there?

I've shot one fall lamb in the early spring.  The problem with the sheep is that they mostly leave their protected area in the spring when it is hard to tell which lamb(s) goes with which ewe and the rams rarely leave except for this one old one that would eat our chicken food in the coop.
