Long Bow arrows
« on: September 23, 2012, 12:31:24 PM »
I will be looking for some arrows for my long bow. Probably aluminum. Bow is a 68 pound 28 inch draw long bow. I draw the bow about 1 to 2 inches past that. What would be a good size arrow to buy for that bow? Thanks

Checked the Easton chart and if you draw 30 inches that should put the draw weight at about 75. With a 125 gr tip it said 2315 or 2216. I might be wrong. It's been so long since I have bought anything other than 55-60 wood or 2016 alums.

Not sure I would go aluminum at that length and weight.  If you do - try to find a spine fit with no more than 22/64's O.D. (probably 2117 or 2216)  That's an awful long draw length and weight for a longbow.  Wood finished carbon or FMJ's would be my choice if you did not want traditional cedar.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I would go Goldtip, full lengths carbon trad arrows.  They look like wood but are carbon.  They are what I shoot.  I have a similiar draw length or plus that a bit.   I am guessing spines 5575.

Agreed I shoot them in a fe of my trad bows as well. The 5575's would be great. You might also look at the arrow dynamics. They are a tapred carbon arrow and they are the cats meow for trad gear!
