I have usually camped on Rose Valley Rd, don't know about other places other than some private places you can pay to camp but they maybe full by now.  Just don't camp behind any gates.  Good luck

Weyerhaeuser provides as many public access opportunities as possible, while ensuring a safe workplace for our
employees and contractors, protecting the environment and safeguarding company property. For current specific
access information, please call the Recreational Access Hotline for Weyerhaeuser in Washington at 1-866-636-6531.
The following rules are in effect at the Longview location which includes the St. Helens Tree Farm:
1. When access is allowed, all access areas are day use only and are open one hour before official sunrise and
closed one hour after official sunset.
2. No overnight camping at any time, even during hunting season.
3. Do not enter active work sites.
4. Obey all posted signs.
5. No smoking outside of vehicles.
6. No campfires at any time, even during hunting season.
7. Fireworks of any kind are prohibited.
8. All public access to the St. Helens Tree Farm is contingent upon fire danger and the safety of our company
and contract forestry and harvesting operations.
9. Roads and areas open for recreational use are subject to immediate closure in response to vandalism, theft
and garbage dumping incidents.
10. Drug and alcohol use is strictly forbidden.
11. Maximum speed limit is 35 mph on mainline roads, less on spur roads and always subject to driving and
weather conditions. Keep to the right and be prepared for oncoming traffic.
12. Use headlights and seatbelts at all times while traveling.
13. Yield to logging and construction traffic.
14. No firewood cutting or removal of forest products/floral greenery. The only exceptions are berries and
mushrooms picked for personal consumption.
15. Vehicles on Weyerhaeuser roads must be licensed and “highway legal.” No off road vehicles are allowed and
all vehicles must stay on roads.
16. Vehicles blocking gates will be towed at owner’s expense.
17. Practice safe use of firearm and archery equipment.
18. Please report forest fires to the Department of Natural Resources at 1-800-562-6010.
19. Please report illegal activities to local law enforcement.

Check the Cowlitz County website assessor's page and click on the GIS maps.  You can zoom in and identify the owner for each parcel.  It'll take a while, but you can find them.  There are probably several State property types that are public besides the ones that specifically say DNR.

Most of the descent state land camp sites are already taken. Groups will setup their camps as soon as the gates open and keep them up all season. Good luck

There is some state land up off headquarters road., but as stated most folks grab a spot on whatever available landing as soon as the gates open. Its probably still worth a look. Have you picked up a DNR land map and scouted the area?
