Urgin for Sturgeon
« on: August 31, 2008, 07:38:26 PM »
Due to hearing not so good report on Salmon at Willpa Bay, decided to take my kid and his friend to Longview and go after some Salmon/Steelhead/Whatever...  Well after launching the boat and heading up river to the Cowlitz, it looked like the Spanish Armada was making a front at the mouth, versus going up and working for Salmon, the kids said they caught alot of salmon before and we decided to run down and catch a couple of my newly discovered favorite fish, Sturgeon....  Anyhow 15 or so to the boat, only one keeper, but they had a blast and I did too being the "guide".....  Thinking hard of changing the login name that I have for years, to

"Urgin for Sturgeon"

can't seem to get enough of these guys....  Here is a picture of my kids friend, first fish bigger than a blue gill......Fun, Fun, Fun....

Yea, maybe a bit, but always learning more each time.  Going to do a similar trip for our Hockey Association that Rob did for Josh.  We have an auction each year to raise money for kids that might not be able to afford to play due to the expense of hockey.  So I saw his trip and kind of borrowed the ideal for the auction.  Trying to get as many cool pictures of kids and guys (yes Ray, BTKR and Iceman) with fish.... to put on a poster so people can bid for the trip.  So I got to learn everything about them before next summer and get all the gear I need.  Heck finding out, from a couple guys I met, they start fishing for them in Oct till Jan, then again for the spring derby.  Maybe we can get Rob and his boat with a group and my boat with a group and enter the derby.  Decent money payout as I am lead to believe from conversations....
