Saw him again
« on: October 31, 2012, 09:59:24 AM »
THis buck was the cover of my first calender two years ago.   I figured when I didn't see him last year, he was dead.   They were logging where he was at and I figured hed end up in the back of one of their trucks........about 200 yards from where I took this pic.....I ran into him yesterday.   I got a really cool shot of hiim which will more than likely be in this years calender.

Here he was two years ago....remember him?

nice pictures...he didn't get that big by being dumb...loggers or not this guy knows how to survive.

Thanks guys...remember this is two year ago.   I am thrilled that this might be the same buck.  and OH YES, he has a target on his chest!   He survived modern again, and now has to face archery plus I caught a poacher yesterday less than a mile away.  a different story.

I think that is really neat that you follow the wildlife in your area like that.

Caught him working this rub over.....in fact, I might not have seen him if not for the rub, as its what I spotted first as it was pretty dark and he blended in pretty well.

that last pic is awesome and would look great in the calendar, his neck is just bulging!  You ever going to go after him or continue to enjoy hunting him with a camera.

I'm seriously contemplating Plat.   I was within 20 yards of him.  Odds of that happening again.  Not so sure.  He has alot of arrows to dodge.

I say pick up your bow and stick him before his antlers really recede.  And just curious and not looking for your spot but is he an eastside buck because his horns are really dark and shiny resembling a westside buck, or was it raining this day you were out there?

Eastside, they were really dark as several of the bucks are here.   Its a pretty wet area, and yes it was pouring.   It was a pain trying to keep my camera dry.   What was REALLY COOL, was that while watching this guy I spotted some does behind him, then a little two point pushing them around.  This guy could care less.  THEN.....another old friend showed up.  ANOTHER nice buck.   His antlers changed alot from what I remember.   He was injured severly and I wasn't even sure hed be around.  His eye was scared over where he got nailed.   The first day I was out I didn't see one buck I had filmed before.   I was pretty discouraged.  Yesterday I filmed three.   I am hoping that means they are showing up now as the rut gets underway.

I say different deer...but a relative. The extra point on his right rear is on the wrong side of his antler fork.

If that is him, the old boy looks like he might be past his prime and on the downhill.  But, he's still a real nice buck so you better get him.

I'm down on the counts this year, but seeing some good stuff.  The weather isn't helping much.  60 degrees today  The wetness I thought would help.
