My Grandsons first elk in the second year of hunting even if it's a cow him and his 308 did the job. Clockum cow tag 11-1-12

thats a good size cow! allot bigger than mine this year

if you woulda saw mine all skinned you woulda swore i shot a deer. but hey last day of the hunt im not passing anything legal. and boy is she tender

but anyways congrats on the kill! nice to see young ones out in the field

I think I was about his age when I got my first cow in the nile with my 308, I was already pretty excited about hunting after my first doe but my first elk may have been what got me hooked.

It was one of the easiest elk I have seen in years. We went down in to a caynon, walked around for a few hours then decided to head back to camp and on the way out he spoted four of them on a hill above the road got out and got set up on a stump did everything right. Waited for it to turn broadside pulled trigger safety on, took safety off, cow just stood there watching him, took the shot and double lunged it it ran about 25 yards and fell over dead. Hundred yard down hill drag to truck.

great job! I got my first elk on the colockum in 1994 with a cow tag when I was 13. Great memories
