Quuestions ? rifle kind and caliber how far was the shot, how far 2 pack out. I notice wool pants and no orange the mark of a true blacktail trophy hunter. Congrats.

Pre 64 model 70 action rebarreled in .280 and tipped with the true deadliest mushroom in the forest the tipped Barnes triple shock. It was only about a 70 yd shot he turned and went straight up the Mt. away from me and I hit him right between the front shoulders, the bullet never came out so it made it nice for pictures with no blood.  You can see in the first couple of pictures it's steep, so with a heavy pack it was truley scary in the snow and then it was just hard work, it's 3000ft elev. gain no trail so I don't know how far.  As for the orange,no comment.

Beauty for sure.  Can we see a pic of the bullet and what the path of damage looked like?  Not a lot of recovered Barnes out there.

Here's a picture of the bullet, I don't have any pictures of the damage but I can tell when I started to cape him I looked for the bullet and I had my whole hand inside the deer between his shoulders. The bullet broke his spine and part of his right shoulder blade and continued forward where I found it just beneath the hide right at the throat patch. This is the third one I've recovered with 4 perfect pedals and less than two grains of weight loss.

140 gr going in 139 gr upon recovery.  DEVESTATING!!!
