It just sounds weird to me if it looked like you made a good shot why wouldn't you at least go look for blood... Just sounds like a weird story to me and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I realize giving an animal some time is needed sometimes but you seem confident in your shot...

SST at 65 yards? The deer shouldnt have went more than 30 yards if you made a good shot.  Good luck and I hope you find him in the morning.

might try some of the tracking spray that will indicate where blood is.  For night tracking, there are small uv flashlights.  Maybe even try hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle.

Good luck on tracking the deer (if inded you shot one) now at dark with the rain. Go ahead and look in the morning, and I hope the antlers are still good, because thats the only thing that will be..Make sure you get a nice warm showerand a good nights sleep  and a real hardy breakfast before you go looking..Damn I just love the infuance these hunting shows have

Hunterman(Tony)

The antlers will taste fine, as will the meat!  It was raining hard enough at the time that there would be no blood trail within ten minutes anyways, I would assume you would wait at least ten minutes to look....?  If the buck was hit, he's in a 2-3 acre woods  where they have permission to go.  If pushed, he could run into a 20 acre wooded area where there is no access, even for a wounded animal.

As far as it looking like this...

This is the real hunting world! Not tv!!!!!!! If it was hit good then go get it! If you don't this is what it could look like in the morning!

You obviously know nothing about where this young lady is hunting.  Unless a batalion of raccoons and mink descend on it in the dark, it will be just fine in the morning as there are no bears, coyotes, wolves or cougar here.

The gun/scope is plenty accurate, the shooter was steady and on sticks.  If she hit where she thinks she did, he'll be there in the morning.  If it was a bit back, then... he'll be there in the morning.

So, unless you have something encouraging or constructive to add, STFU.  Thanks to those supporting this young hunter.

I shot a buck 3 years ago, same gun, same bullets, double lunged and that deer ran 123 yards, paced off, so not sure you know what you are talking about.

my shot on my buck this year was less than perfect unfortunately, and if i didnt go out at night to track him i doubt i ever would have found him.   head lamp, get on the trail, if hes dying slow and you bump him then back off until morning, but at least take a look tonight and get an idea what happened?

This is a kid, and she probably isnt calling the shots, maybe we should secure our arm chairs and give her a break.

yeah i actually did bump him onto other property, at which time i called the landowner to get permission, then waited until morning to recover him.  still fact remains if i didnt find his trail that night and know where he went i never would have found him im certain

Deer can take a good hit and go a long way. I have shot the heart out of a couple and they can make it over 100 yards before they lose enough blood pressure to go down. This year i shot a doe in the heart with a 444 marlin with a 270 grain speer golddot and it went 130 yards. Best of luck finding your deer in the morning the meat will be fine.
