It just sounds weird to me if it looked like you made a good shot why wouldn't you at least go look for blood... Just sounds like a weird story to me and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I realize giving an animal some time is needed sometimes but you seem confident in your shot...
Good luck on tracking the deer (if inded you shot one) now at dark with the rain. Go ahead and look in the morning, and I hope the antlers are still good, because thats the only thing that will be..Make sure you get a nice warm showerand a good nights sleep and a real hardy breakfast before you go looking..Damn I just love the infuance these hunting shows have Hunterman(Tony)
This is the real hunting world! Not tv!!!!!!! If it was hit good then go get it! If you don't this is what it could look like in the morning!

The deer shouldnt have went more than 30 yards if you made a good shot. Good luck and I hope you find him in the morning.
my shot on my buck this year was less than perfect unfortunately, and if i didnt go out at night to track him i doubt i ever would have found him. head lamp, get on the trail, if hes dying slow and you bump him then back off until morning, but at least take a look tonight and get an idea what happened?
This is a kid, and she probably isnt calling the shots, maybe we should secure our arm chairs and give her a break.
