lynx near hood canal?

was deer hunting last weekend and i saw some sort of cat running down the road then jumped like 10 feet up the bank and disappeared.

i have always wanted to see a bobcat, so i was content thinking that is what it was... however, it was really dark (brown) and extremely furry. like no spots at all. maybe someone had used it for a chimney brush...

any chance there are lynx near hood canal?

When do cougar have their cubs? Maybe it was a baby cougar as the legs were really "thick" with fur

Very, very unlikely. I'd bet the left one it was a bobcat.

Bobcats are all kinds of colors.  I've seen cats that looked blue, red, white, brown and spotted like a dalmation.  It all depends on their genetics, the light, and the background where you see them.

Over on the wetside most cats don't have good spots, definitely not ones you can see from any kind of distance.

Probably a bobcat and there's nothing wrong with that    pretty rare sight, especially from the road.

No way it was a Lynx.
Just a bobcat.
When you're out there, alot of things look bigger just because you weren't expecting to see it.
Hell, while grouse hunting up in the olympics, I can go around all day without seeing anything, then the first robin I spook looks HUGE!

I'm sure it was just your eyes playing tricks on you.
Beside, Bobcats are pretty big after all.

You'd know a Lynx if you saw one.. Very lanky, and extremely fast. I've seen ONE in my whole life of being in the woods, and it was when I was hiking in the North Cascades National Park, about 15 miles from the last possible gravel road, near the Pacific Crest Trail... WAY UP, and WAY NORTH! I'll never forget it, beautiful animal. I've seen bobcats that ranged from Grey to Red to a Yellowish tinge and even a bright burnt Orange color. Lynx have much longer ear tufts as well... you'd know..

Could it have possibly been a lynx, yeah, but could also possibly win the lotto.  Most likely a bobcat and to a lesser chance a young/cub lion.

I have seen 1 adult lynx in the woods and that was 1981 in what was at the time the Red Zone around Mt St Helens near the old 12 mile camp on the 4400 rd.

It jumped out in the road and stood there for several seconds, at about 15-20 yards away, giving plenty of time to ID it as a lynx.

But none the less, still very cool to see!
