Success on 1st trailcam set
« on: September 06, 2008, 10:53:40 AM »
I took my daughter up last night to pull my trailcam. I left it there one week. On our way in and we were getting close I could smell elk. So we started down and got about 75-100 yds above where my cam was set and I saw some elk below us moving through the woods. So I have my daughter get down and we watch about 5-6 elk move through from near where my cam is. Then a bull bugled not very far from us (I'm guessing within 200yds). My daughter says "That was cool"  :IBCOOL: So we sat there for a few minutes listening to the bugle a few more times and the cow/calves talking. We saw one more elk go by below us as we made it to the cam. So, this trip was a success even if I didn't have any pics. But I got 68 pics! So, ANYWAYS, here are a few. The ones in the dark are from the night that I set the cam.

Then I didn't have any more pics on the cam until yesterday at 4pm. There was 53 pics between 4:08 and 6:01. This 1st cow stood there for a dozen pics of just her.

Pay attention to the time on these last 3. The 2 with elk are after the first bunch had already left and my daughter and I were about 75yds uphill but out of sight. The last one is of my daughter and I. Yes, that blurry thing is me  ;)

Thanks catwithboost. It was fun having my daughter there with me. I was going to remove the camera with the upcoming archery elk season but I left it there hoping to capture the source of the bugles. I'm going back up Sunday to pull it.

I have been out of Country for 8 days and pulled my and need to get it back out. I think my Dad and brother get more out of checking it then I do and that makes it fun to have some one there to see what it got. Keep up the good photo's.

Well, I went and pulled my trailcam today before the bowhunters get after the elk tomorrow. No big bull, just the 2 pt came back.

How's it going "hunterbuilder", I haven't talked to you for awhile.   You're brother was telling me you had these pictures here.  Does this mean you're elk hunting this year?  I've got a camera up myself, hoping to capture the monster black tail i've seen.  If you're doing modern, you'll have to get that spike you got a picture of.

Me and my Dad put up our first trail cam too. There was pics of huge elk and deer. We even had a pic of a couger or a bobcat but we couldn't tell which.
