Sad state of affairs
« on: November 27, 2012, 07:03:06 PM »
Before I even moved to Virginia back in Aug I joined a hunting club out here.  I heard private property was hard to come by and your best bet was to get in with a hunting club, so I found one and joined.  So I have participated in three hunts this past week for deer with dogs here in Virginia.  Man o man.  25 inbred rednecks with an IQ of about 45 between all of them.  Total disregard for other property owners, blasting any deer that moves, actually seen 4 deer tagged and not one of them was over 40 pounds.  I've never seen deer this small without spots before.  They are hunting with shotguns and 00 Buck and these deer are all shot to hell.  Then two of them start shoving and fighting.  It's sure not my cup of tea.  But these guys are killing me for other reasons, as if those weren't bad enough.  In Virginia the dog associations seem to have a bunch of power.  They actually lobbied and stopped a bill this past Feb that would have made Sunday Hunting legal.  So, not only have they ticked off alot of landowners, it's completely legal for a dog owner to tresspass without permission for the purpose of retrieving their dog as long as they are not armed, they have alienated pretty much all the other user groups.  They have no concept that it can and most likely will be taken away from them.  Now I know all Virginia dog owners are not like this but wow, this bunch is really a bad group to have as a representative of the sport.  The only reason I went three times is the first two times no deer were seen or killed, but I could see and hear things I was not comfortable with.  But after Saturday's hunt I'll be hunting the rest of the season on my own.  Pretty sad, destroying their sport and they can't even see it.    :(

So, when are you moving back?

The plan all along was to be out here for two years and then "hopefully" move back and take over for my old boss when he retires.....Not sure I can last 19 more months!  :):)
